From a young age, I have been surrounded by autistic artists whom my family has advocated for, and I was taught to identify, develop, and engage with their limitless talents. Their ingenuity not only inspires the context and narrative of my art, driving me to explore the boundary between the neurotypical and autistic, but also formally influences my work, prompting experiments with fantastical and unconventional color combinations.

Through personal interviews, I have discovered that the perspectives of autistic artists are often focused on singular subjects and remain unaffected by the social affairs around them. Their genius is grounded in their unfiltered viewpoints, which are unique to each artist and irreplaceable by any other. My art seeks to reflect this concept by merging my work with the specific interests of the autistic artists I have encountered, highlighting how each artist has their own individualized expression of ‘genius.’

My art, therefore, serves a greater purpose: advocating not only for the visual brilliance of the art produced by autistic artists but also for raising awareness of the disability itself. The 12 works I have selected narrate not only their personal stories but also the profound influence they have had on my perspective. I hope these works spark curiosity in the average viewer and act as a catalyst to shift the perception of autism art, ultimately propelling it into the mainstream contemporary art world.​​​​
